It’s no secret: AI is on the rise. Investment in it has doubled over the last two years. And the potential for this technology to transform content creation is massive—from visuals to audio to text.

Just think back to this summer when memes created with AI tools took over the internet. Developed by a company called OpenAI, this technology uses an algorithm to transform short phrases into images and is now widely available to the public.

TikTok, meanwhile, released an AI greenscreen, which offers similar text-to-image functionality for users’ backgrounds. It’s a tool that can transport videos to far-off locales, create a neutral background that lets your content shine, and, yes, help land the perfect punchline.

But AI isn’t just a visual wunderkind. It can write, too. Researchers have tested AI’s ability to make inferences about the plausibility of certain events based on language, and it’s come a long way over the years. In 2019, natural language processing (or NLP) machines scored 9 points behind the average human in this skill. By 2021, machines had closed that gap to only 1 point.

Already, GPT-3, a natural language processing tool (also from OpenAI) is making the impossible possible. A startup recently used it to create a podcast episode featuring a conversation between Joe Rogan and—wait for it—Steve Jobs.

As creators think about potential use cases for this technology, there’s a lot to consider. AI can offer an easy way to respond to comments, meaning better audience engagement at scale. It can also come in handy for other important text, like brainstorming content ideas, titles, and captions. Tools like these are being developed at an increasing scale and pace.

TubeBuddy Ventures Into the World of AI

This month, we introduced the AI Title Generator, a tool that harnesses the power of NLP to help YouTubers like you step up your game. After you input your initial idea for a title, the tool will generate several more to help you gain the most clicks. You can use one of these titles, take inspiration from them, or even use them to run A/B tests. That means easier content creation and better-performing videos. AI Is Maturing—And There’s More to Come

As AI technology continues to grow, tools are becoming increasingly robust and powerful. Why has AI generated just images and text when it can do both and so much more?

By ingesting several different data types, multimodal AI can analyze and produce content across different formats and even lend its advanced problem-solving abilities to complex challenges. Multimodal tools introduced over the past few months can diagnose rare diseases from images, generate ALT text for widely accessible online content, and generate full videos based on text

AI can’t ideate the way a human can. But the power it puts into creators’ hands can make content creation more efficient, informed, and scalable. At the end of the day, it gives creators more time to do what they do best: create. The tweaking and optimizing? Leave that to technology.
